Flurries Possible Overnight Wednesday

The latest high-resolution North American Model (NAM) shows a few scattered snow flurries possible overnight Wednesday as the leading edge of a┬ástrong push of “bitterly cold air” in the mid and upper levels infiltrates the DC Metropolitan Region. ┬áCoverage of snow flurries will be widely scattered at best, but with temperatures plummeting into the lower 20s, any one location underneath a snow shower could see slick spots develop during the pre-dawn hours on Thursday.

The image below shows actual air temperatures plummeting overnight Wednesday. Wind chills will pose a threat of hypothermia with single digits to ten below zero wind chills common across the region as winds gust between 30 and 40 mph at times.
