Flurries Possible Overnight Wednesday

The latest high-resolution North American Model (NAM) shows a few scattered snow flurries possible overnight Wednesday as the leading edge of a strong push of “bitterly cold air” in the mid and upper levels infiltrates the DC Metropolitan Region.  Coverage of snow flurries will be widely scattered at best, but with temperatures plummeting into the lower 20s, any one location underneath a snow shower could see slick spots develop during the pre-dawn hours on Thursday.

The image below shows actual air temperatures plummeting overnight Wednesday. Wind chills will pose a threat of hypothermia with single digits to ten below zero wind chills common across the region as winds gust between 30 and 40 mph at times.
