Saturday Evening Update on High-Impact Winter Storm

Models are in good agreement on the track of Sunday’s storm with the only variable being how quickly surface temperatures rise above freezing on Sunday evening.

Snow Arrives between 3 and 6PM

Major Icing a Concern from Freezing Rain

The latest high-resolution North American model highlights the potential for some major icing issues between interstates 81 and 95.

Snowfall Accumulations

The latest European model continues to indicate a decent snow thump before the change over to an icy mess. Snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour are possible causing area roadways to become treacherous.

Gusty Winds & Power Outages

The threat of power outages will be exacerbated by the gusty winds of 35 to 45 mph developing on Sunday afternoon and continuing through the overnight.

The weight of the ice on the trees and windy conditions could cause widespread power outages in locations that receive a quarter-inch or more of ice.
