Timing Today’s Scattered Strong Storms

A disturbance will pass through the Washington Metropolitan Area this afternoon touching off some showers and thunderstorms, some of which may become strong to severe with gusty winds and hail.

The latest high-resolution rapid refresh (HRRR) model indicates the best timing for storms passing through the immediate metropolitan area is between 3pm and 6pm, earlier in the Shenandoah Valley and a bit later along the Chesapeake Bay.
