DMV Upgraded to Slight Risk for Severe Storms, Timing their Arrival

The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) upgraded portions of the DMV to a ‘Slight Risk’ for Severe Thunderstorms today, mainly for locations east of the Blue Ridge mountains to include the immediate Metro Area of DC, Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William, Stafford, Montgomery, Prince Georges, Charles and Calvert counties.

Timing Several Rounds of Thunderstorms Today

The main threat today will be damaging straight line winds in excess of 60 mph, hail and flash flooding. Remember that lightning is one of natures most prominent killers after flash flooding. If you hear thunder roar, stay indoors.
