A cold front will approach the region this afternoon as an upper-level trough deepens across the area. Widespread showers and a few thunderstorms are likely between 4 and 9pm in the Washington Metro Area. The rain will move into the Shenandoah Valley sooner and exit the Eastern Shore of Maryland later this evening (image below courtesy Pivotal Weather).
Saturday is looking decent with a few isolated showers in the morning and partly cloudy skies in the afternoon with highs near 60 degrees.
Clouds will begin to increase on Saturday evening out ahead of the next system approaching from the Ohio Valley.
