The latest GFS deterministic model (image below, courtesy WxBell) shows snow developing Wednesday evening and continuing through Friday morning.
The next image is the GFS ensemble blend showing potential snowfall accumulations Wednesday through Friday.
For those of you in downtown Washington, the latest GFS Ensemble shows just around 5″ of snow accumulation and that is an increase of 3″ from yesterday’s same run.
The latest ECMWF (European) deterministic model run also shows snow developing Wednesday evening and continuing through Friday morning:
The final image below is the European ensemble blend showing potential snowfall accumulation from Wednesday evening through Friday afternoon. Notice that downtown Washington currently has the potential for 7-8″ of snow if this model is accurate.
It will be interesting to see if these trends hold and in the end which models perform best.
