The latest Climate Prediction Center 6-10 day Temperature and Precipitation Probability Outlook show some welcome relief from the recent abnormally cold and wet weather. The image below (courtesy Pivotal Weather) indicates a 50-60% probability that temperatures will be above average in the Washington Area the 15th through the 19th of May.
Finally, there is only a 30 to 44% probability that precipitation during this upcoming period will be above average.
In the short term (this week), temperatures and humidity will slowly increase with the next threat of scattered showers and storms arriving next weekend. The average high in mid May in Washington is 74 degrees and the average low is 54 degrees.
