Models continue to forecast potent nor’easter along the Mid-Atlantic coastline next weekend

The details (track, and how much cold air will ultimately be available) remain murky this far out, but the odds of a strong nor’easter continue to increase for the upcoming weekend (March 3 – 4th).

– The question currently in my mind is will this storm have more of an impact from the Jersey shore northward to Cape Cod or will future runs of the models start to shift further south with the eventual track?

– If the coastal storm were to develop and rapidly strengthen near the Outer Banks or Virginia Beach, the odds of greater impacts along the Del-Mar-Va (including the DC Metro) would increase substantially with strong winds, beach erosion, heavy rain and inland heavy snow.

The second time frame that I am watching closely is March 6 through the 10th.

Highlights for the week ahead:

Monday – Afternoon sunshine!

Tuesday – Highs near 60 with ample sunshine!

Wednesday – Cloudy but dry.

Thursday – Soaking Rain Likely, thunderstorms possible.

Friday night through Sunday – High impact Nor’easter possible somewhere along the Mid-Atlantic and New England coastline.
