Nate to bring needed rain but heaviest should remain well west of DC

Nate will interact with a cold front bringing the chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms Sunday into Monday.

Latest High Resolution NAM model through Sunday Evening shows Nate tracking through the Deep South eventually passing through the spine of the Appalachian mountains.

Latest European Ensembles keep the center of Nate well west of DC (along with the heavier rainfall amounts):

Latest NAM Sunday Evening through Monday Afternoon:

-Heaviest Rain expected Monday morning then tapering off rapidly during the afternoon and evening with some residual scattered showers until the cool front clears.

Total Precipitation Forecast (NAM):

– Mainly a half-inch to one inch in the DC Metro with only a quarter of an inch east and south (enough to settle the dust).

Latest European Model Rainfall Potential through Monday Evening:

– Three-quarters to one inch west and north of Washington

– Less than a quarter-inch of rain well south and east of Washington

Good News: We’ll take any rain we can get and the upcoming work week will have another opportunity for showers, possibly Wednesday Night
