“Friday Flooding”: Widespread Thunderstorms, Some Severe Will Impact the DC Area

Latest NAM model shows widespread thunderstorms with torrential rain impacting the entire Mid-Atlantic on Friday.  Some storms may contain damaging winds, hail and isolated tornadoes can’t be ruled out.  How much rain will fall in your backyard?

If the latest High Resolution NAM model is correct, a general 1 to 2″ of rain will fall across our region with locations receiving training thunderstorms picking up between 3 and 5 inches locally.

Word to the wise:  If you’re heading out of town this weekend, I wouldn’t wait until Friday to do so.
