Soggy Start to the Week is Great for Spring Foliage

A steady rain with some rumbles of thunder is possible as we head into the late afternoon hours continuing through the overnight.  Scattered showers will continue Monday and Tuesday.

Here are the latest forecast models showing potential rainfall accumulation (images courtesy Weatherbell):

GFS (Global Forecast system) model –

NAM (North American Model) –

For you gardeners out there I caution to you wait to plant sensitive crops as I see colder air returning next weekend with the potential for wintry weather somewhere in the Washington to Boston corridor.   Remember, the average last freeze occurs around April 15th.

  1. Latest GFS did give potential for significant winter storm next weekend. Of course, snow sticking around here that late in the season is problematical, but stranger things have happened, like March 29, 1942 and March 19, 1958. Or even March 17, 2014.
