Potent Storm … Treacherous Commute

Snowfall Potential

Snowfall Potential through Thursday Noon

The options for OPM tomorrow are not easy. The roads will be a nightmare due to the cold temperatures and horrible timing of heavy snow between 4AM and 8AM (the DC Rush hour). A two-hour delay may not serve any purpose because it will still be snowing between 8AM and 10AM.

Snow should taper off and end between 10AM and noon with lingering flurries during the afternoon hours. The best two options for OPM tomorrow (in my humble opinion): Delayed Opening at 11AM or Close the Government.

Snow showers will develop overnight on Wednesday continuing through the Thursday morning rush hour.  Most locations in the immediate Washington Area will receive up to one inch of snow but some locations may pick up two, especially just south of the District.  Roads will be slick causing travel problems during the rush hour. Cancellations and Delays are likely.  Scattered snow showers will continue during the afternoon hours as a disturbance passes through the area.
