Yes, the forecast was a complete bust. It happens. Nobody is perfect. The unrelenting warm air last night held strong later than anticipated and wasted over a quarter of an inch of liquid to fall as rain. If temperatures had been in the upper 20s to near 32 we would have squeezed out about 2 to 4″ of snow out of that by dawn. The second problem is tha the clipper transferred its energy to the coast robbing our area from steadier snow today.

Scattered snow showers will fall across the area this afternoon into the overnight hours producing a coating to one inch with some locations picking up 2 to 3.

This storm was a mystery to me. I thought for sure that the Arctic air would nose in ahead of the storm, but it stalled out near the PA border. When it was 50 yesterday and we were getting no cold advection yesterday evening, I started getting very uneasy. Then after the temps finally fell to near freezing, there was no more precip despite good easterly flow off the Atlantic and good dynamics aloft. Maybe we will squeeze a little snow out of it this evening.

To all you snow bears out there who downed it, I tip my hat.

No worries Tim! Plenty of time left for winter. The models are already calling for potential activity this coming weekend. I agree with Andy, things took too long for any cold air to wrap into us.
