BOMBOGENESIS- THE EXPLOSIVE, RAPID, DEEPENING OF A MID-LATITUDE CYCLONE OVER THE GULF STREAM MORE COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS A NOR’EASTER.
SNOW INTENSIFIES THIS AFTERNOON BEFORE TAPERING OFF THIS EVENING.
- The upper level low pressure system over eastern Kentucky is moving toward the coast. The Nor’easter is sitting and spinning (waiting for the upper level piece of energy to catch up)… Thunder Snow may continue for portions of the Chesapeake Bay region.
- Additional snow accumulations today of 6 to 12 inches bringing Washington’s suburbs from THIRTY TO THIRTY SIX INCHES ( THREE FEET OF SNOW!)
- Despite the sleet that mixed in across the Fredericksburg Area and southern Maryland…. six to twelve inches should bring your 18″ totals closer to TWO FEET.

Blizzard of February 6th 2010 replaces the Blizzard of 1996 as Washington's 4th largest snowstorm on record.
MY TOTAL SNOWFALL ACCUMULATION MAP STANDS…
